If the digital humanities are one successful configuration of humanistic and technological research domains, what other configurations are available, resurgent, or necessary?
Conference theme
HASTAC’s 2016 conference sought proposals for papers and presentations emphasizing work in digital, environmental, and medical domains, as well as pathbreaking work that expands the possibilities for new interdisciplinary configurations.
The theme — Impact: Variation, Innovation, Action — framed a call for research and teaching striving for impact in interdisciplinary settings, asking how configurations of scholarship change, revive, and take hold.
Proposal formats
Proposals were invited in several formats, each suited to a different scale and pace of argument.
- Long papers — extended scholarly arguments developed for the conference agenda.
- Short papers — concise contributions suited to focused discussion.
- Hands-on sessions — practical, participatory workshops demonstrating methods and tools.
- Birds of a feather — informal, participant-led conversations on a shared topic.
- Custom sessions — panels and formats proposed by organizers and collaborators.
